More the a slice of Americana, 29 Dances is influenced by Appalachian folk music, tradional country and bluegrass. The songwriting is at once insightful and engaging, classic. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Vil VornDick (Alison Kraus, Ralph Stanley), the musicianship of the players adds to the songs’ impact. 29 Dances, Jan Smith’s her second compact disc rlease – and landslide Records debut – presents and exuberant collection of originals from this distintive new writer and singer.
